I thought that it is a good book in your own time, but the size of the book shocked me out.

I thought is was a good book to read in your own time, but the size of it just put me off completely.

This book was very interesting especially the parts with the ghosts. I really like the book and I would recommend it to teenagers who really like mysterious and mythical books.

Joshua, Lisneal College  8 out of 10

Boring & complicated - I hated it!

Aleksandra, Holy Trinity College, Cookstown  3 out of 10

Amy , Holy Trinity College, Cookstown  9 out of 10

Good characters and story line that kept you turning the page. Definitely worth the read. I will be picking up the sequel when it's out.

Niamh , St Louis Grammar School, Ballymena  7 out of 10

I enjoyed this book because you didn't know what was going to happen next but at some stages it got a bit scary.

Ewan, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  7 out of 10

Probably the best book I've read in the past 2 years. This needs to win, no doubt about it. Boy Nobody deserves a 2 in comparison, even though I rated it a ten.

Kai, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  10 out of 10

I really enjoyed this book. I just wanted to keep reading on and on to find out what was going to happen next. This book was really exciting. I would recommend it to someone who loved everything to do with ghosts and stuff like that.

Emma , Sacred Heart College, Omagh  8 out of 10

Amazing story.
I'm glad I picked this book. I definitely don't regret it.

It's full of mystery and is also a mixture of horror.
I really enjoyed Jonathan Strouds writting style.
I enjoyed the different characters, but, my favourite has to be Lucy.

Lara, Carrickfergus Grammar School  10 out of 10

I really, really enjoyed this book. The story is interesting and very well written. It keeps you in from start to end. The characters are cool and well described. It was so cool that when I had to return it to the library, I just went and bought my own copy. I'd recommend it to everyone! 10/10 =o)

Gosia, Carrickfergus Grammar School  10 out of 10

I really enjoyed this book. It was spooky, scary and shockingly brilliant. It made me want to read more on every cliffhanger. I especially loved the Combe Carey Hall bit as it was very interesting and haunting. I would recommend this book to any reader who likes being left on the edge of their seat.

Shaun, Sullivan Upper School  10 out of 10

I could not stop reading this book. There were so many twist and turns, it kept you on the edge of your seat. I also think the characters were good and well explained. You got to know exactly what they were like. I recommend this book to anyone who likes comedy and exciting and scary books.

Patrick, Aquinas Grammar School  10 out of 10

I highly enjoyed this book.Everything about it is great. They describe all parts perfectly and I would really like to read more from the series. My favourite part was when Lockwood And Co went to Mrs Hopes home because it was exciting.

Megan, Other School  10 out of 10

I thought the book was super and having Lucy's talents would be cool but they would also be scary as there would be a possibility that you could experience dark things! Jonathan Stroud really brought the characters to life. Even from page 1 I couldn't put it down. The plot was amazing and so were the "vistors". At times you would think there was a special relationship between Lucy and Lockwood but you will have to read it to find out! Perhaps he will write another book. If so I definitely will read it! A great read.

Beth, Assumption Grammar School  8 out of 10

I thought that this book was extraordinary! I loved how Jonathan Stroud created the characters in a way that you could almost picture them in your mind. The plot was thrilling and the way he described the "visitors" was absolutely brilliant. I would have liked it even more, (almost impossible!!!) if there had been a relationship between Anthony Lockwood and Lucy Carlyle. But overall absolutely magnificent!!! It had me from page 1!!!

Katie, Holy Trinity College, Cookstown  10 out of 10

I thought this book was very exciting at part one I was ambitious to find out what happened next but as the story progressed it started to get boring . To be honest I enjoyed the book at part one but after that I didn't like it . Go raibh maith agat :)

Dubheasa, Coláiste Feirste  6 out of 10

Very scary but very exciting and I really would recommend it to others. One of the best books I've ever read.

Jannik, Other School  10 out of 10

I think this book is very weird,to say the least! I liked the beginning (Part One). It kept me awake and I really wanted to find out what happened next. However, as the book progressed it started to get boring, the whole switching between memories and present got confusing. I can't comment on Part 3 because I never got that far into the book because it started to drag . I finshed half way in Part Two as I really didn't enjoy it.

Enya, Assumption Grammar School  4 out of 10

This was a really scary book and is also very exciting. I would say that everyone should read it.

Sunny, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  10 out of 10

I really in joyed this book and would recommend it to anyone . One thing I didn't like about it thought is it moved between time periods a lot .

Daniel, Bangor Grammar School  9 out of 10

This book is scary and a little bit strange. But as I read on, I really enjoyed it. I also really like the title "The Screaming Staicase". I don't really believe in ghosts, but that book made me stay awake for a few nights! I loved it.

Katie, Culleybackey College  10 out of 10

AMAZING read, it draws you in and then, at the end, lets just say it kept me awake... It was one of my best and most original reads in a long time.

Abby, Hunter House  10 out of 10

I thought that it was probably the worst book out of all the book club books. It had a slow story line and kept on switching perspectives so I found it hard to find the main storyline. It would have been better if the author made it a constant horror book rather then switching genres continously.

Ewan, Strabane Academy  4 out of 10

This book was electrifying. The author did such a great job with the story that I felt as if I was there with Lucy, Anthony and George throughout the whole book! This book had everything I was looking for; laughter, suspense, horror and drama, I cannot wait to see how the author continues the story-line throughout the series, perhaps things between Anthony and Lucy will heat up?

Aimée, St Louis Grammar School, Ballymena  10 out of 10

This is a really mysterious and breath taking book. It is exciting one time and then your emotions just change, just like that. It was a confusing book at the start but you just fall in with it then. If you really think about it, you feel like you're in the story. I really loved this book! I will not say anymore and let the you have read it for yourselves. I am sure you will fall in love with it just like I did.

Bethan, Sacred Heart College, Omagh  10 out of 10

Never know about this book until my librarin gave it too me i am sooooo gald she did. Hope there is more!

Connor, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  9 out of 10

I thought this book was extremely thrilling and exciting. I really enjoyed this eye opening book. It was a fantastic read and I would definitely read it again!

Clodagh, Sacred Heart College, Omagh  10 out of 10

I LOVED this book. I thought it was full of twists and turns, really eerie in parts and yet it still had a bit of humour in the form of George. Great storyline - Don't understand how anyone could find it "boring". My kind of book !

Liz , Aquinas Grammar School  10 out of 10

It's an amazing book! I loved each and every bit of it and simply couldnt stop reading it. It was very well written and in my opinion just completely perfect.

Dimitar,  10 out of 10

It was a brilliant book! Full of thrills and (ghost) chills. Well written and filled with suspense

JOnathon, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  10 out of 10

I didn't really like this book. I didn't want to read all of it. Maybe if I had read a bit more I would have liked it but I had only read the start of the book and it didn't intrigue me enough to read the rest of it.

Chloe, Wellington College  5 out of 10

I liked this book as it was suspenseful and it has a good story, I liked the descriptions about what Lockwood and Lucy went through and some of their stories from the past.

Ryan , Culleybackey College  9 out of 10

The book I have just read was ok (but not a book I would choose to read ). The author has to be thanked for publishing the book and when I was reading it, when an event happened Jonathan used lots of good description. It's a good book and I recommend this to 12 - 13 years old but it's not quite to my personal taste .

Matthew,  6 out of 10

I really didn't like this book it wasn't interesting enough and I don't really enjoy books like this one

Curtis, Bangor Grammar School  1 out of 10

I quite enjoyed this book, the characters were strong and pretty well developed. The story was a little predictable and got a little confused in the middle with parts that weren't really that necessary to the book, but it was generally good overall! But I would recommend it for a younger age group (12-13 year olds), due to the predictability and the general style of writing and story line,

Mary-Kate, St Louis Grammar School, Ballymena  7 out of 10

I think this is the best book that I have read so far! The story was creepy in parts and I loved the characters. I like this book because I like mystery and a bit of horror but that is only my opinion.

Ben, Holy Trinity College, Cookstown  10 out of 10

The Screaming staircase was a good book, difficult to grasp the story due to much uneeded stuff happening in the middle of the book. Other than that it was a thrilling adventure.

Derren, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  9 out of 10

This book was amazing, i just couldn't put it down. I was scared but in a good way it was exciting to read as it was so similar to our world but also different. I made the mistake of reading it before bed it took a little while to get to sleep when i got to the scariest bits. This was amazing to read and i would gladly read it again.

Marianne, Hunter House  8 out of 10

it was alright very perdictable (kind of boring) some bits was good some bad over all i would give it a mark of 5

Evan, Strabane Academy  5 out of 10

I couldn't put this book down as I always wanted to know what happened next and of course, like all great authors, Jonathan Stroud has left us with a tantalising foretaste of a sequel. I am delighted to learn that The Screaming Staircase is to be made into a film and can only imagine how well it will transfer to the big screen!

Miss McAdoo, Holy Trinity College, Cookstown  10 out of 10

Ní raibh an méid sin dúil agam sa scéal mar go raibh sé hoopdy-doo agus níor thuig mé é.

I didnt really like the story as it was all hoopdy-doo and i did not understand it.

Dubhaltach, Coláiste Feirste  5 out of 10

This book was very suspenseful and scary. Most parts were quite good but some were very boring....(not going to give anything away!) so for that reason I'm only giving it a 7 :(...apart from that- excellent book, well done Jonathan Stroud!!

Liam, Wellington College  7 out of 10

This is probably one of my favourite books and it was terrifying which made it even better to read! I think that it was written in a really clever way which made the things that happened unexpected and more interesting. This is a great book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes scary stories!!!

Emma , Strathearn School  10 out of 10

great book, very suspenseful, must read!

ryan, Portora Royal School  10 out of 10

One of my favourite books of all time, absolutely terrifying but unputdownable. I really love this book and I think stroud is a genius.

Emma, Other School  10 out of 10

Lockwood and Co. is not your standard ghost story. It gives me chills whenever I read it, although it's careful enough not to take itself TOO seriously. This would have to be one of my favorite books that I've read recently. Jonathan Stroud needs to be applauded.

Ciaran, Sullivan Upper School  10 out of 10

This book is a very predictable book. In my opinion it is very boring, it is what is says in the title. Also it is a lot like ghostbusters. I would reccomend this book for ages 12 and over also for people who like mysterious books.
