I really enjoyed this book. It was funny and exciting. The only bad thing was that the names were quite hard to pronounce.

I absolutely loved this book! It was very entertaining and I loved the detail that was used to describe the gruesome killings. I would definitely recommened this book, as it is a mysterious, enjoyable tale about a young boy.

Osbert the Avenger wasn't really to my taste. The plot felt a bit fry, the book was sort of predictable and not much happened, to be honest. -SPOILER ALERT - After Osbert is expelled from the 'dream' school, The Institute, he seeks revenge on all of the teachers that caused him pain while he was there. The deaths usually have a theme to them, the music teacher, for instance, was trapped by violin strings and starved to death. -SPOILERS OUT OF THE WAY- After Hero, this book was probably the weakest out of all of them. If you have a choice, don't read this.

The worst book EVER!!!!!! I can't believe it got on to the book award list. I have read many books better than this.

Stephen, Holy Trinity College, Cookstown  2 out of 10

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had a very good plot twist. I liked the way Osbert went from an ordinary boy to an avenger.

Liam, Wellington College  8 out of 10

This isn't a book I would normally read. It's quite strange. I really enjoyed it though. It is about a boy who isn't normal and out of place but has special abilities. I found it very funny. It was amazing and a real page turner

Bláthnaid , Assumption Grammar School  7 out of 10

I really enjoyed this book, because it has a very unexpected ending to it. It is also the second book I read from the NI Book award list this year. I really recommend it to students who aren't so friendly with their teachers!!!!!!!!

Zuzanna, Assumption Grammar School  10 out of 10

Interesting at the beginning. I liked the character of Osbert. He had adults sussed. I just felt overall that it was a bit too long.

G, Wellington College  8 out of 10

This book was really sinister and gruesome, and Osbert is extremely sly and sneaky. I wish that there will be a sequel!

Sam, Portora Royal School  10 out of 10

Why is the principal so mean? Leave Osbert alone! It suits the genre perfectly and it makes me have a chill down my spine. It was quite gruesome though. I would say people younger than me would read it too. It deserves 10/10. Really good book.

Sarah, St Louis Grammar School, Ballymena  10 out of 10

Jannik, Other School  8 out of 10

Most amazing book of all time I love it so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Death to the principal

Mairead, Belfast Royal Academy  10 out of 10

This book is full of murder and gruesomely described manslaughter. Osbert a boy is the unlikely culprit of these deaths. He seeks revenge on his teachers who treated him very cruelly. One by one they are killed off even the Principal. But Osbert had encountered many close shaves. Would somebody realise it was him??? You better read the book to find out. I thought this book was very gory, though also very humorous in places. I would recommend it to 11 years and older since the murders are very vividly described. It was a very exciting book and ends on a cliff-hanger leaving you wondering what happens next... I wish there was a sequel!!

Maria , Assumption Grammar School  9 out of 10

This book somehow differs to the storyline you would expect from the cover and blurb. It portrays a significant amount of mysterious manslaughter and humour combined. I thought the plot was exciting and mysterious overall. I couldn't quite grasp why the author wanted Osbert to kill his own best friend but nevertheless this detail really added a sense of evil to Osbert's character, overall this book was hilariously brilliant.

Katie, Holy Trinity College, Cookstown  10 out of 10

This book was good at the start and quite funny but got boring. The mystery never came to an end. It just went on and on.

Dawid, Wellington College  6 out of 10

This book to me is very enjoyable and i would recommend it to anyone although it is not usually my type of book i really enjoyed it.

Adam, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  8 out of 10

Caolan , St Patrick's High School, Keady  10 out of 10

I thought this book was very good and darkly funny. I would recommend this book to 7 and up.

georgia , Wellington College  8 out of 10

Osbert the avenger was a brilliant book very gory and funny at the same time. It also captivated me in the ways that the teachers and the principal died because i liked the ways that they died. For instance when Osbert fed doctor Zilbergelb all the pastries and he fell into the slicer and dicer, that was great.

Thomas, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  9 out of 10

Osbert was a really good and gory filled book that i really enjoyed and my favorite part was when Osbert kept on feeding Doctor Zilbergeld the pastries and eventually she got fat and fell into the artificial strudal slicer and she got chopped up into a million pieces! it was a really good book but not my favorite one

Ethan, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  8 out of 10

A really gruesome book describing everything in so much detail and the ending leaves us wanting to find out what happens next, not for people who do not like gory endings!!

Beth, Assumption Grammar School  9 out of 10

Osbert the Avenger was a really good book. The part I liked the most was the deaths of all the teachers because you didn't know it was going to happen. Overall it was a really good book.

Hannah , Lisneal College  9 out of 10

I loved all the gruesome in it and how it described in detail all the killings. It was also good how Isabelle and her mother were most probably killed at the end. A great book all in all.

Connor, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  8 out of 10

I did enjoy Osbert The Avenger, but I had my problems e.g. Osbert seeming psychotic, as his science teacher dies, when the only bad thing he did was pull his friends hair. However, there were parts I enjoyed, especially the characters, which were well-rounded, e.g. the butcher, Oskar Sallowman. I found that the ending was unsatisfying as (I shouldn't be saying this.)

Niall, Down High School  7 out of 10

this book was absolutely brilliant. It contained everything you want in a brilliant avenger book. The deaths of the teachers are absolutely brilliant.
The twist at the end was brilliant. Especially...

John, Strabane Academy  10 out of 10

It was a very good book. It had some twists and turns some I thought were unexpecting.

Nathan, Strabane Academy  8 out of 10

A strange story. Funny how all the murders happen over a Violin. He was supposed to get it, but the Institute didn't want to let it go. So they expelled him and ruined his family's life. He has a grudge and murders them. Shows that appearances can be deceiving.

Derren, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  9 out of 10

A very good book but quite predictable

Paddy , Bangor Grammar School  8 out of 10

Daniel, Bangor Grammar School  9 out of 10

Osbert The Avenger is a very well writen book. It has an amazing plot idea and gripping characters. The best part was when he killed his Music teacher by accident, I laughed at this part over and over again. I loved the character of Osbert and how his character develops from an intelligent and nice character into a cold hearted murderer!

I would recommend this book for any readers who like gruesome books.
