I really enjoyed After Tomorrow. The style of the book is very different to what i would normally read. the story had a few unexpected twists. i enjoyed most of the book but it was a very disappointing end.

I thought this was a really good read with alot unexpected surprises popping up and i think this was a great book but a dissapointing end to me

jamie, Portora Royal School  9 out of 10

I thought this book was interesting, but the plot wasn't exactly my type. The blurb does explain most of the plot but there are parts you won't know about until you read the book. I would recommend it to lovers of gangster books and overall it was great.

I read After Tomorrow a couple of months ago, and nothing really stood out for me. It's a nice idea, British citizens becoming asylum-seekers after the country is ravaged by hunger, but it felt like it took forever to say anything. The characters were well thought out, apart from two: the main character and Bob. Bob's plotline felt rushed. You thought he was a goodie, and his side changes in the last couple of pages, it felt too hurried. I didn't really feel an emotional connection with the main character, at times he was racist, a bit thoughtless and a bit rude. The book overall, I would give it a 7/10

I don't even know how to explain it, it was sooo good I couldn't stop reading. Best book in the awards. Definitely deserves to win.

Sam, Portora Royal School  10 out of 10

This is a fast paced well plotted fast read and it is an exciting book which sticks in my head. LOTS of action LOTS of emotion and the blurb says it all. The robbers come, the banks collapse and the goverment falls - anarchy rules

Cormac, Aquinas Grammar School  9 out of 10

This is a very entertaining book, I couldn't stop reading! I loved the cover, but the writer's name was a bit too big. Some of it wasn't the clearest, but overall it was a very good book 9/10

Liam, Aquinas Grammar School  9 out of 10

This book was really interesting and frightening in places, because if I woke up and everything was gone, I would probably cry. The cover art on the book was very creative in how it was presented and laid out. The problem solving and problems throughout the book were fun to try to figure out. The characters and the survival aspects of it were interesting to learn. It was very exciting and I would recommend it to anyone !

Josephine, Aquinas Grammar School  10 out of 10

I enjoyed this book it was really good.
I would highly recommend this book.
I really liked the start of this book when the family were sitting in the kitchen and the robbers come in.
Mum has only finished tidying the cupboard and they took everything out of the cupboard.
this was a funny start to the book.

Chloe, Other School  8 out of 10

I loved it. Survival, problem solving and mystery! It was all in it! The story line was so descriptive that it sparked my imagination. A definite success.

Rachael, Assumption Grammar School  9 out of 10

I thought this story was quite strange and difficult to understand in places The storyline was very good but it wasn't thought through that well. It could have ended better. It is a funny book.

Bláthnaid, Assumption Grammar School  5 out of 10

I thought after tomorrow was an excellent book and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I would recommend this book to everyone, young and old.

Josh, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  10 out of 10

I thought After Tomorrow was a really good book and I couldn't put it down! It was different and not like anything I had ever read before. It was quite unpredictable in quite a few places as well.

Hannah, Sullivan Upper School  10 out of 10

The start of the book was good but it got a bit boring through the middle. The end of the book was very good. I think the author should do a sequel to this book. This book had a very good story and it was very exciting. I really liked the characters in the book they were very believeable. I would reccomend this book to everyone.

Thomas , Sullivan Upper School  8 out of 10

I've just finished reading this book. At the start it was just ok until you got into reading it and as my classmate had said, the world really can change in 24 hours. By the end of it, I did like the book and the way the author told it in a person who was there at the time. I recommend the book to 12/13 year olds.

Matthew,  9 out of 10

I loved this book and how creative it was. I also like the creative name of Bob

Connor, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  9 out of 10

I really enjoyed this book. This was a great mix of mystery and uncertainty. I wasn't a really big fan of reading because I could never really find a book I really liked before but this book has made me enjoy reading. I'd like to discover more of Gillian Cross's books. I think she's a really good author and I think she should write more books in the post apocalyptic/mystery category. To sum up, it's a really good read which I would recommend to everybody. 10 out of 10.

Alex, Wellington College  10 out of 10

This book was very interesting and action-packed. It is about a family who are named Scadgers, people who hoard and do not share food, by the Raiders. So, Matt and Taco flee to France, with their Step-Dad Justin, leaving their mum and grandmother behind. They have a hard time in France and have to overcome many obstacles.

I thought this book was very well written and very imaginative. I really enjoyed it and the author makes you feel as if you are there with Justin, Matt and Taco.

Maria, Assumption Grammar School  9 out of 10

This is an excellent read, I found it hard to put it down. I felt drawn into the book, like I was watching it all happen in front of me. My favorite character is taco:) I hope there is a sequel.

Rebekah, Victoria College, Belfast  9 out of 10

I didn't expect to like this book as it isn't the type of genre I usually like but I found it a really good read. None of the characters were perfect so seemed like real people and the storyline made me think about what I would do in the same situations. For me the moral of the story was that sometimes good people do bad things in desperate circumstances. It really made me think and I like that.

Liz, Aquinas Grammar School  9 out of 10

I thought After Tomorrow by Gillian Cross was a very good book as I like adventure. I thought it was a real page-turner as it left me on the edge of my seat waiting to see if the main character's brother survived. I would really recommend it to other readers

Sean, St Patrick's High School, Keady  10 out of 10

Toby, Bangor Grammar School  10 out of 10

I thought After Tomorrow by Gillian Cross was a very good book as I like adventure. I think it could get a few votes for the Northern Ireland Book Award. I thought it was a real page-turner as it left me on the edge of my seat waiting to see if the main character's brother survived.

Carra, Other School  10 out of 10

This book is the greatest book - everyone has to read it. I would love this book to win . It is so sad. There is one thing that the Granda said that I loved (because he loved bikes) "if you want to stay balanced you better keep moving" I would read this book over and over again until the pages fall out!

Bethan, Sacred Heart College, Omagh  10 out of 10

This was a great book in my favourite genre. I was drawn in to the post apocalyptic world and it felt really real. But i wasn't quite satisfied with the ending.

Tiernan, Down High School  8 out of 10

I thought that this a very good book about a real apocolipse. It was about a boy whose mother sent him his step-dad and his brother to France where he had to cope by setting up a bike shop

Ewan, Strabane Academy  7 out of 10

A great book.

Paddy, Bangor Grammar School  9 out of 10

Jonathon, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  8 out of 10

this book is amazing and really a page turner.
it is a really exciting book and excellent story board but ends in a very unsatisfying way.

martin, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  9 out of 10

After tomorrow was a fast moving tale that was mostly based on two young boys( Taco and Matthew) who move to a camp outside of France as their old house gets raided by robbers but they have to keep their mom behind as the grandma broke her hip and couldn't get up. I really enjoyed this tale as it's not predictable and it's full of shocks and twists. I would give this book a 9/10 as at the start it is too slow moving but when you get into the book it's a really good book.

Kyran, Portora Royal School  9 out of 10

I feel this book needed to be more descriptive in respect to the characters. When I finally found out what was going on it was ok. It didn't really captivate me!

Beth, Lisneal College  2 out of 10

As it was part of the Northern Ireland Book Awards I personally thought it should have been better than it actually was.It also took a bit too much time to understand

Ben, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  4 out of 10

It was exciting at the start but then it started to get a bit slow and boring.

Ewan, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  4 out of 10

After Tomorrow is a very well writen book apart from the fact that it is slightly predictable. The characters are fun and exciting and I love the plot. It is quite an easy read that I finished fairly quickly. I would reccomend this to 10yrs - teenager. This was one of my favourite books in the whole award!

Ailsa, Victoria College, Belfast  8 out of 10

This was indeed a strange book but nonetheless it was a thrilling adventure and it says to be careful who your friends are. A great book, hard to put down.

This was a good book but most things were predictable, but it was still a very good book.

Curtis, Bangor Grammar School  7 out of 10

After tomorrow was a pretty good book but some bits were predictable like when they were robbed they moved to another country. But I think all in all it was a pretty good book because I like some action and adventure and this would be the perfect book for whoever likes those sort of things. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes action and adventure.

Thomas, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  9 out of 10

I really loved this book because I like a bit of an adventurous story line to a book ! I would recommend this book to anybody. I rate this book a 10/10 because I really enjoyed it but it could have improved on the end because they could have went back to their mum or talked to her before it ended. ! =] Loved it =]=]=]

Matthew, Wellington College  10 out of 10

The book was good because it had a interesting story line I found the book ok but i think it needs more action in it

Sunny, Royal Belfast Academical Inst  9 out of 10

It is an apocalyptic adventure about two brothers trying to survive. I'd recommend it to readers who like adventures. I enjoyed it so now I'm looking for a similar end of the world story. 9/10
